i have 2011 E coupe , my COMAND layout does'nt show the (System , Navi , Radio , phone ,video etc..) tabs , i only can access them by pushing the physical buttons on the dashbord , can anybody help me figuring out why i have this on 2011 mercedes?
secoundly , i dont have a bluetooth audio option and i cant play audio via bluetooth , i only have USB/DISC/AUX options , how can i stream audio via bluetooth ?
Third, in my engineering mode it shows an Ip address does it mean i have internet connection?

Welcome to my problem.
Now you can upgrade it to a better sw version but forget the bt music steaming.
The reason why is if you have audio 50 as sat nav which i believe you have .
No way to get the BT music let me copy emails between me and a shop.
Read it and hope it will help you out.

It will be updated to the very latest version avaialbe on the day we do it.
You get bluetooth audio streaming and full postcode support if you dont
already have it. Plus you will get lots of bug fixes.
The work takes about two hours.

Yes currently I do not have BT music steaming and my postcode is only HA0 4D not full UK postcode this would be very good
I am able to use BT to receive and make calls ONLY.

Thanks for the email.
If you can let us have the full VIN number of the car we can tell you what
options the car has. We can then quote you accordingly.
The VIN starts with WD..... and is seventeen characters long.
You can find the VIN on the V5 registration document under chassis number.
You can also see it on the car if you look below the driver door lock
latch on the car there is a black label with it written there.
Alternatively it can be seen by lifting the windscreen wiper blade. There
is a small window showing the VIN stamped on the dashboard visible through
the windscreen.

Sorry for the delay, Mark is travelling. We can replace the Audio-50
in your car with a COMAND NTG4 system
This will give you
a) Larger Screen
b) Better internal amplifier
c) Bluetooth audio streaming
d) Better navigation with 7 digit postcode
e) Nicer looking display :-)
As we do the installation to Mercedes standards, we will
i) Install the cooling fan system for the COMAND - this is vital
ii) Update the data record at Mercedes Benz so it doesn't go wrong when
services
iii) Install the system to Mercedes standards, using our Mercedes
supported diagnostics systems.
iv) Update the firmware all the audio units in the car (DAB for instance)
to latest versions specified by Mercedes if needed.
v) Supply a user manual for the COMAND system
vi) Install the latest available maps, and if a new map is released with
3 months, we will update that for you without charge as your system is
NTG4.
For a guaranteed refurbished unit, this will cost £1400. This would
normally be a single disk system, but for you we will supply a DVD changer
unit.
COMAND also supports an optional factory reverse camera, which costs £599
inc VAT fully installed
Of course having COMAND makes the car nicer and of more valuable for
resale in the future, but we will return the old parts to you and these
can be easily refitted should you wish to sell the car at some point
The install takes a few hours, so Saturday morning if not normally
possible - part of the trouble with Saturdays is often the Mercedes Benz
central systems are down and this prevents firmware updates etc

Your car is wired for NTG4, so installing NTG4 is the correct for your car.
We can retrofit NTG4.5, but it is a bit more expensive (as it requires
more expensive map licences), and thus the single DVD version of NTG4.5
would be £200 more and we can't do the "3 month map guarantee update"
If we did instal a NTG4.5, we have to install a Model Year 2012 version
(as your car is MY2012) and that does not support internet on the iPhone
(the data part isn't supported), so in real terms the differences for you
would be
NTG4 - PCMCIA slot, DVD changer
NTG4.5 SD-slot, Single DVD, £200 more
If you look at this car, you will see the Comand NTG4 in a W207. You can
see the screen is bigger than yours and a PCMCIA slot is there too.
hanks - we won't affect your remap - we don't go near the engine systems.
The ability to have reverse camera is a great feature of the COMAND system
:-) and the proper factory reverse camera works really really well in the
dark compared to fitting some aftermarket thing.

The reverse camera will not work with the Audio-50, you must have COMAND
NTG4 or NTG4.5
If you want NTG4.5 , it is £200 more but you will also not get the DVD
changer (it will still play DVD though), and we can not do "free map
update if Mercedes issue a new map within 3 months) as the map licence is
much more expensive.
Can I suggest you consider the following: -
Comand NTG4.5 (refurbished with 1 year warranty and with new LCD) - single
disk, the correct one for your age car - note this does not support online
with iPhone. £1600
Reverse camera £599
Media Interface - this lets you plug an iPhone in and select tracks,
playlists etc from the COMAND screen £699 - makes playing music really
good (better quality than bluetooth audio).
Total is £2898 including VAT ?
BTW, I have never bothered to use the online functions in my car, much
faster/easier just to use my iPhone, so you won't miss out.
If you go with NTG4 COMAND, then you will save £200 and have a DVD changer
instead of single DVD.

This is what NTG4.5 looks like. Note that for your car year, the screen
colour scheme will be similar to your existing unit (rather than the newer
grey scheme)
Seems like the MB service techs outlined the options available to you quite well. Good back and forth exchange, so they were very responsive in this case. Good post.
Obviously both you and OP were hoping this would be a simple and relatively inexpensive sw update, but it seems your existing hardware in the form of the Audio 50 unit simply isn't able to provide that level of functionality. So they outlined your options with respect to replacing your existing Audio 50 system with a COMAND unit that is compatible with your vehicle's wiring build. Now all you have to decide is whether the additional functionality you desire is worth the price MB is asking.
Exactly. Upgrading vehicle electronics in most somewhat slightly older cars to get the latest and greatest in functionality rarely makes financial sense. The only times I've seen it be somewhat worthwhile was in the restoration of truly classic cars. Cars from the late 1940's through the early 1960's. Then again, those cars when fully restored to showroom standards can go for low to mid six figures and it's done as business.
