Radio Amplifier Question

Hello,
I have a 2011 e350 coupe, and I believe my amplifier blew out (no sound comes out of the speakers on any mode anymore).

I found a replacement refurb for $205, but I wanted to run it by the community and see if it is a simple plug n play when swapping them out, or if it will require programming?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this has been a persistent problem that I would like to solve immediately.

Thanks!

Have you checked the fuse? Unless you play extremely loud regularly, the amp will not blow that easily.

Hey Flash, yeah i checked all corresponding fuse. TBH it wasn't prom playing music.

The command wheel had a stripped wire which was shorting everything out, so in removing and replacing it, it caused a spark which led to my sound no longer functioning. That's what leads me to believe i shorted the amp out.

The display did not work for a while, until i reset that fuse (#11 i believe), then it came back without the sound.

I would suggest to check it out at a car accessory shop that specialize in car sound. It should cost less than $50 for them to check the amp output to see any signal coming out of the output. This way you will know for sure before you swap out the amp. I am a home sound buff but the principle is the same.

Thanks again Flash, I think I will do that. Better safe than sorry!
