Dash rattle C238 (2018 E400)
Well, I’ve had my 2018 E400 4matic coupe for 1 month and i love the car. I have put just over 800 miles on it and it is a great car to drive.
One annoying quirk: the car has more rattles and creaks than one would expect for a $65k vehicle from Mercedes. The rattles seem to be coming from the dash. Most prevalent when driving over rough road of course, but occasionally I hear the rattle when the stereo is at 1/3 with low end frequencies. It sounds like something is loose or perhaps a clip securing the dash has broken.
I will stop by the dealer and see if they can do anything. I am hesitant to have them disassemble the dash, the act of chasing the rattle may induce additional ones.

My 13 E350 Cab, traded in for the new 18 E400 Coupe, had not 1 rattle or squeak in 4 1/2 years.

2016 E400 Coupe (C207)
While I like my 2016 E400, I must say that it doesn't feel as "screwed down" as its predecessor, a 2011 BMW 3-Series. The cabin of that car was rock-solid, with nary a squeak, rattle, or vibration from anywhere. By comparison, the Benz feels a bit thrown together. The driver's seat control pod often makes a groaning sound (I have to push it against the seat cushion to stop it), the instrument cluster sometimes produces light fluttering sounds (I have to shove on it to stop it), and the rear deck makes a pronounced and very annoying vibration/rattle when driving over rough surfaces.

I only get the odd squeak on occasion, friends has a permanent rattle we can't get rid of. My old Saab 9-3 convertible was bolted together better than the Merc is and that was a modified GM.
Its not falling apart or anything, but its no better than any other car. The premium is for the badge not the quality. Not a lot of 4 seater convertibles with rear leg room to choose from though unfortunately.
