Navigation Update Experience

My 2013 E350 Coupe had the original V12 Navigation database from 2012. When purchase as a CPO from Mercedes in 2015, the navigation database was not updated.

After much research, I purchased a NTG4.5 V18.0 COMAND® 2018 Navigation Update on ebay Cost with shipping from Canada was $155.

The update was delivered on a Mercedes Benz USB key with a unique license key specific to my VIN#.

Elapsed time for installation was approximately 75 minutes. Update was completely successful.

Yes, the required NAV code #, needed to update your cars is based on your specific VIN #

Since the NAV Update require power, the engine needs to be running or use battery power. A trickle charge may also work.

2011 E550 Cab & 2015 ML400

I updated mine in the fall. Disk goes right in the front slot. Took like 1.5 hours. Engine running whole time.

I have 2017 navigation update (NTG4-212 System) bootleg DVDs that I can sell if anyone is interested. Confirmed to work on my 2011 E550. $30 shipped.

Does the update change anything but the maps? I mean does it just add streets?

I almost never use the NAV in the car, I just use Waze or Google for directions.

Is there any other benefit to doing the upgrade?

In addition to the maps and the Points of Interest (POI), the update also updates the Gracenote Music Database for information about CDs and digital music.
