11 Cabrio Console Question
I have an 11 E550 and the Command scrolling issue. I ordered the replacement shaft, but can't figure out how to remove the switches for the top controls. I have found several videos on removing the Command knob from sedans, but none that specifically address the cabrio. Can anyone tell me how to remove the trim around the Command knob? It looks like there should be less to remove than on the sedan, but I'm stumped and dont' want to break any trim pieces. Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

For the European cars you remove the gear leaver cover and then the knob itself, followed by the trim that is then left. That gives you access to the screw at the front of the arm rest. You then remove the rear vent cover which gives you access to another 2 screws. They you remove the cup holder mechanism under the sliding door, remove the mat and there is a screw there. Once those screws are removed you can use trim removal tools to separate the top of the armrest
North American cars may be different.

bigemike,

Between the pelicanparts article I shared and the pdf that Konigstiger shared, both should be helpful.
I used these to replace the convertible top switch housing.
I should have replaced my broken command wheel shaft at the same time!
Taking the console apart - for me - was a huge pain.
To me, replacing the shaft seems like a lot of work. I may just opt to replace the whole command wheel/unit.
Hope the above helps!
