A207 Reverse/Backup Camera Acting Weird
My 2014 A207's backup camera is doing a weird thing. It's like the picture on an old monitor is failing - the guideline colors and warning text at the top are extra vivid, everything on the screen is dim and kind of "cartoony" looking (kind of like it's animated), the picture is wavy, and the screen flickers. But if I get out of the car and wiggle the camera itself, all is well. Then if the car sits for a few hours, same thing.
Called my dealer and he said that I need a new camera, and quoted "in the $1200 range" to replace it. Why so much/ Is it really that complicated? I see the part all over eBay for $150-$250, and it looks like I just plug it into a harness inside the trunk lid. Is it really hard to access that harness? To me it appears that I just remove the moulding around the camera (part A2077500493 I think) and the camera somehow clips into place either on that piece or on the trunk lid behind it. Am I missing something? Is that piece of moulding difficult to remove?
Thanks!
