I have an '11 E350 Cabriolet and have a question about the trunk release. Whether I use the key fob or the lever on the driver's door, my trunk pops up slightly but does not raIse to a fully open position. Is this common in that model?

Yes, common on the W207 cars.

If you lift the trunk you will see a horizontal spring in the top corners. These often need re greasing to get it to move smoothly and open the trunk.
