'12 E350 Coupe - resonator delete didn't do a whole lot

Hey all,

I had searched this forum for anybody who could describe the change in the C207 with a resonator delete... I found some but not a lot. There were a ton of posts about my generation E550 coupe, and even one about a w211 E350 that I think has my same motor. Not finding anything definitive, I just gave it a try. went to Midas. He removed the resonator and put two straight pipes to connect the ends. $120.

In case any owner of my generation of E350 coupe thinks removing the resonator will made a lot of difference... it didn't. I can barely tell any difference on cold start and idle, and no difference at very little throttle. I was driving with the windows down. At about 1/4 throttle, I can hear some difference, and at about half throttle, above 3,000 rpm, there is a much bigger difference. An increade in the sort of middle tone metallic sound... not grumbly, no high end wail.

So basically you notice the difference if you're putting your foot into it, but not when very casually driving. This is unlike the Remus muffler that I installed in my 2001 320, which made a big, positive difference in growl and volume.

DunninLA, did you compare to the sound of yours to the youtube videos of the W212 (with the same V6) & other C207 cars? I have a 2012 E350 coupe and am in the process of debating the resonator delete or muffler delete option. VS getting a new aftermarket exhaust. Figured i'd try the lesser expensive option of delete parts first. Interested to know your opinion of your car and how that correlates to the ones I can hear on youtube.

<- W212. first part is Res only delete, at .08 he shows the res & muffler delete.

<- C207 with just a Res delete.

Let me know your thoughts on both. Your advice will probably save me some $$. Thanks!

MercModder727 -- no I didn't compare to any vids. I'm happy I deleted the resonator. It is subtle but enough for me to take pride in this simple and inexpensive mod.
