After 3yrs of ownership, finally having my first problem with my '10 E550 Coupe
So twice in the last week on the highway after accelerating from about 60-80mph I got the esp/traction control malfunction warning lights and a reduction of power. Car was still drivable and when I would stop and turn the car off and back on, it would be back to normal. Searched the forums and it seems to be either the steering angle sensor or possibly the key? Anyone have a similar experience?

Hi. Be very careful, my 2014 E350 did this on a journey last summer, it happened 2 or 3 times within 15 miles then stopped and wouldn't start. After a week with MB they had to replace the ECU at a cost of £1000.

I had same thing happen on my 2010 E550 coupe .It was accelerator pedal .Apparently it sends a noisey signal to ECM and puts the car in safe mode or limited operation strategy .When you turn it off it resets ,then will occur often on hard acceleration. Before it got bad I did notice a slight hesitation on accel from stop.

It stayed in the limited operation strategy until I shut it off and restarted it.Then was fine until I do the WOT and then it does it again ,almost every time.I also noticed all the time there is a hesitation on medium accel from low speed or stop .The accel pedal fixed it .The accel pedal causes electrical interference and causes this concern .I have seen this before on a few Lincoln LS but it was defective ignition coils causing elect noise and driveability problems. You could test the coils individually and watch the pattern on an oscilloscope to verify coil failure.

My car has a strange tendency to fix itself. Since this post back in April, I have only experienced it one other time a few months ago. In my other post with the starting issue, that has happened two other times in the last couple of months as well.
