c207 oil leaking around valve cover and oil filter cap/cooler

Hey guys. 2010 E550 coupe

Randomly get the "Check oil at next refuel" message, noticed oil in the engine around 3 areas:
  • Between the oil filter cap & oil cooler
  • valve cover front (driver side)
  • valve cover side (driver side)
Made a quick video to show:
(looks like oil is fresh, but i took the video after spraying some degreaser - going to try to clean it)

Apparently i need a valve cover gasket? from reading the w212 forum this car uses sealant and not gaskets?
Anyone with experience/advice? DIY fix job or take it to a shop?

Thanks!

Oil Leak

So, i have a 2016 C207 and looks like mine is leaking from the same place. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the front cylinder head seals and cam solenoid seals that needed to be redone. They wanted $1450 to fix it. Found a local Mercedes shop who fixed it for $500.

Sounds about right! Guess its an e-class thing. Apparantly there is no valve cover gasket and its just a sealant they use. Were you getting "check oil at next refuel" as well? Were you topping oil up here and there?

Looks a lot like my engine bay. I thought it was leaking from valve cover also but it was the oil filter housing/cooler leaking onto it. I may DIY this, there are many tutorials and it's about 100 for the replacement part new. Also can replace your belt, pulley and thermostat if necessary at this time as you will have to remove them for the replacement.
