I had the halogens on my 2011 E350 cabriolet replaced with LED bulbs. Then I had to have a new headlight assembly put in the passenger side because it wouldn’t adjust and now the cap on the back won’t fit. I looked and it looks like the lens part of the new assembly is not as far forward as the drivers side (see pics).
my question is:
Can the projector part of the headlight be adjusted forward and if so how?

that plastic chrome housing shouldn't move as it is part of the internal housing. I am sure it is possible to break the bracket that holds it in place to shift it. I noticed when I replaced my halogen bulbs with LED's, I had to reorder shorter LED bulbs due to the back round cap you mentioned not fitting. The length of the LED bulbs w/adapter are longer than OEM halogen. There are no adjustments on the headlight other than manual level control adjusted with a screwdriver i believe. that chrome housing could have shifted during the install of the new bulbs if you pushed too hard.
Other than that, the headlight is possibly of a different country spec possibly?? hope this helps. you can always bake the headlight to remove the outer glass then have access to the internals.
