Hello all. I am the new to me owner of a 2011 E 350 Cabriolet. It has a problem. The passenger SRS light and error message are on. I bought a reset tool but now I am looking for a sensor bypass emulator. I have contacted several vendors without luck. I found a mat sensor but im old and don't have children and I was hoping to avoid the chore of removing the seat. Can anyone out there give me some advice? Also am I correct in thinking my car is an A 207 ? Thanks everybody.
Hi @******* Ballard and welcome to MBWorld! Can’t help you with your problem. Hope you manage to get it sorted. Your E cab sounds great. Please post a photo when you get a chance
Is the code for the seat occupancy sensor? I'm assuming it is from your description of the issue.
First off, don't let people put their knee on the seat bottom, this stresses the sensor beyond where it is designed to move and damages it, causing this error/light. I'm not aware of an emulator for the seat sensor, but I would imagine you can check the resistance of the driver's side sensor and make your own with a resistor or two. Good luck.
Yes, the Convertible(cabriolet) Coupe is the A207. The Hard-Top Coupe is the C207. The seat covers/cushions are not too difficult. I'd say 5 or 6 out of 10. Warm leather is easier to work with, so do it inside in the heat, if possible. Strong hands are a plus for stretching and positioning everything. Take your time and make sure you have all the fasteners removed, don't just start yanking on stuff. Hog-Ring pliers are a life saver, along with new Hog-Rings. Assuming the construction of the seats are similar to the W211/W203 cars...not sure if the newer cars still use hog-rings or not, sorry.
I like to put the seat up on a table and tear it down out of the car, easier than doing it on the ground. I cut the old rings and install new ones, but if you don't have new rings, you can take a pair of needle nose pliers and use them in reverse to open the old rings, then you can reuse them.
