Question C207 Steering Wheel upgrade

I would like to replace my existing wood/leather wheel with the one that looks like it came from an SL. Has anyone done this? This is the one I want. I saw this in an advertisement for a German E class coupe C207. Thoughts and ideas welcomed.

I have changed my steering wheel which was round but not wood like yours. This what have you attached is flat "AMG" steering wheel. I also have the same currently.
Of course I removed the airbag from the round one to the flat one. Everything was plug and play..so I think its not a big deal to change it.

Is your car a 2013 C207? Since MB did not produce an AMG version that year, where did you buy your steering wheel?

You can buy from CKM Car Design. Apparently, you will need to get an updated steering column for steering wheels from model years beyond 2014.
Also, if you need to get a steering wheel with Up/Down/Right/Left 4-way buttons on the left side to maintain menu navigation functionality. If I am wrong, I hope other more "seasoned" members will weigh in to correct me

I intend to do this during the coming months, as well as the 12" Android upgraded touchscreen - also on CKM's site.
I currently have the steering wheel in the photo that you posted, and will be moving up to a more updated wheel.

WOW. That looks incredible!
I thought the left side controls had to have the 4-direction button layout (up/down/right/left)?
Does the toggle work to replace the up/down buttons?

The touch button works on all 4 directions on both sides. They both control the front display, not the comand display.
you loose the lane assist function though. The feature where the steering wheel vibrates when you are out of line.

Sorry to the OP for hijacking this thread a little...

Alas, I do not have the lane departure warning.
I'm glad to hear that the touch (joystick?) button works. This certainly opens up options.
So, in order to manipulate the COMAND menu, would the driver use the lower (non-touch) buttons and toggle (flip) button/switch? Does that question even make sense? If not, sorry.

Just like original steering wheel, thers no way for you to control comand menu with steering buttons.
you have to use comand knob on center console

Did you have to change any other parts for this to work? I checked out CKM and they were not specific as I got two conflicting answers from them.

So for that wheel you have a few different options.
you can upgrade : all 3 of those options will require a new airbag (also plug and play)
w204 facelift
w205 prefacelift
w205 facelift (2020-2021 version)

the 2020 version wheel with an encoder will retain all button function except cruise control. those buttons on the wheel will be dead but cruise control will still work from your stalk.

all the other wheels will need a chip board swap from your original wheel that you can do yourself or you can find a company that will do that all for you. tons out there that can get this done. rucarbon, carismo, carbontastic;. shop around the prices are all over the place but those 3 companies are the best at what they do for plug and play compatibility that wont completely break the bank and are in the USA

I have the 2010 E550 Coupe with the AMG Steering Wheel factory option and it looks identical to the one you want to put in.

Original steering wheel
So this is the current one I have, which I think they could have styled better. The outer wheel looks great but the inner tri spoke is just lacking. Shame though as the rest of the interior looks amazing. Which one do you have installed, can you share a pic of it?

I have the same wheel and I agree it is pretty lacking on the center part. I recently did the alcantara upgrade to it and was wondering if I can swap it with another center section.

I don't think you can swap the center part out. I was thinking carbon fibre wrap but that would impede the airbag deployment. I'm talking to RUCarbon as they have some great options and are very helpful. lthlc63 suggested some companies in the US to look at for the steering wheel facelift.
