Merc E350 Cab w212

Merc E350 Cabriolet C207 2010.
Following a puncture in the rear near side tyre the above error messages displayed. Following replacement of the tyre they keep returning each time I now drive the vehicle for >2-3 miles.
Garage says has run tests on the diagnostics system, it shows a fluctuating signal from the rear nearside and needs to change wheel bearing on rear nearside because the sensor system is a sealed unit.
I'm not a mechanic and only have cursory understanding of vehicle maintenance but this seems like a significant repair to resolve the fault and I don't understand why it would appear at exactly the time a puncture happens. Any ideas I how I might tackle this problem?
Thanks
