I have a malfunctioning Command system. Right now, no Nav and system reboots every 3 minutes. Radio is out for about 10 seconds during reboot. My local Indi shop couldn’t figure out how to fix it. I took it to my local MB dealer and they said they had to replace the whole Command unit at a cost of over $6,000! My car is a 2012 E350.
I told my Service Rep that this is ridiculous- he agreed, but had no alternative to offer. Going to touch base with a couple of high end car stereo stores and see if they can help. Will also circle back to my indi repair shop and see what they say.
I’m planning on selling this car early next year (moving overseas), but am not sinking 6k into this car. Would appreciate any experience anyone has with either “used”Command units or third party aftermarket systems.
[QUOTE=BigMike62;8470369]What unit do you have? Check on eBay. You can get them for $300 to $700 bucks. Anyone with semi-mechanical skills can install one.
I’ve read on other forums here that there is a password to match the command unit to my car. Anyone have experience doing this?

Check your owner's manual. I'm not sure if the code is specific to the vehicle or the radio. You can also call the dealer to get it. Ask the seller if they have the code for the radio they're selling.
there is a good chance you will need to get your Indi shop involved to code that unit to your car. Let them install it so they can retrieve information at the rear of NTG.
