2011 E350 Coupe battery fitment

I’ve just replaced the battery on my E350 Cdi coupe but I cannot refit the Cabin intake Air box back on. I purchased the battery using an online tool which gives batteries that are all 190mm in height. My old battery is 175mm tall. I’ve checked with other websites and again, all batteries are 190mm tall. According to these tools, my battery should have a capacity of 80Ah and a CCA of 800 A, yet I cannot find one with these specs on a 175mm tall battery. My old battery had 80Ah and CCA of 740A and I do not think it was an AGM or EFB type. To be honest, I don’t really know what that means but it may explain why the ECO Start/Stop function was a bit erratic.

Those of you who have this spec C207, what battery do you have and can I use a battery that has less Ah or amps?

Exclamation

Enter this on Google > 1st result should be for MBparts centre > MA001 9828108/26 (OEM)
Alternatively > A 000 982 21 08

From a quick google search, dimensions, particularly height, seem to vary depending on manufacturer. Would generally advise you to purchase VARTA (OE MB supplier) from 3rd party but as you can see, ended up replacing at my MB Dealer (with a discount).
On a positive note: LHD vehicles have a ~1cm height margin from the battery to the AC intake so double check that battery is properly seated in tray before giving up.

PS: if you decide to go aftermarket you **must** fit an AGM, compatible with the start-stop system. As for capacity and CCA, 80Ah 800CCA (or better). Note that the battery control module manages it's functions from the premise that you replace it with factory specs. Module charge cycle count should also be reset when replacing the battery (yes, even some technicians disregard/ are oblivious to this but it's a bad practice).

Hope this helps

Hi. I’ve since removed the new battery and refitted it (this time with the bonnet/hood strut catches removed to allow improved access and now it fits perfectly! No idea what was preventing it from allowing height clearance but problem solved.

Thanks for the advice but how do I reset the module charge cycle count?

This gives you an idea of procedure/ tools required should you wish to make sure. Sometimes procedure differs slightly based on year even within the same "model" so I would rather not expound and say nonsense (my A207 is from 2015) and have yet to replace the 12V batteries on either the A217 or A238.
