Hi all! I apologize if this question has been asked prior but if so I couldn’t find it in the search.
My 13 W212 power top when I’m in the car and I lower the top, it lowers all the way down, and just before the trunk lid closes at the final part, I get an error message that pops up saying “Trunk Partition Open” and the trunk wont close the top in. I’ve opened and closed the trunk partition when I put the top back closed but it doesn’t fix the issue. Any ideas as to why or is it a dealer fix?
TY kindly.
Coupé and convertible models of the E-Class of the same vintage are W204 C-Class derived and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Classcoupé and cabriolet (Wikipedia).
I'm fairly new with my 2011 E550 convertible, but had a CLK500 ragtop for ten years. When I got that dash message I would go back and check the partition, maybe open and close it tighter. I learned the car had to be turned off while I was doing it, then started again for the ok status to register in its little German brain.
Otherwise you may have to change the two struts on the partition to hold it open better; they were about $100 each on the CLK. And/or there are microswitches on it that convey the open/closed partition status.
I've had similar issue but only when i first start to open the top.
this is a picture with the cover open before top starts folding in. The switch is in the plastic part on the right side
When you pull the partition on left side you should hear a click from the switch and if it clicks again then like the previous poster said you need to change the struts.
as an interim approach i have hooked a small bunge cord from the partion to the luggage hook and it holds enough pressure to open the top.
had similar problem with my CLK550.
However I am thinking yours might be a different microswitch given how far it gets in opening process before stopping.
Might be a place to start though.
Check and make sure your strut is connected to the partition, i found a piece of mine cracked off and lets the strut come loose. Working on a solution for that. Also noticed my other side has a crack were the strut connects.
