Today is new tires day.

Decided to replace my tires, as the front two slightly dry rotted Perelli's...and the back 2 are nearly new Yokohama's. I want them all to match, so I am replacing with 4 Michelin sport tires. I have new center caps to install at the same time. I am slightly worried about the tire installer damaging a tire pressure monitor. I plan to show the salesperson (Tire Kingdom) that the pressure monitors work perfectly, prior to installation. I will check the display to make sure that all is well before leaving. I am excited. I really like this car.

Yup,

Mark

ps I don't want the tire store to do the alignment. I will have that done at a local shop that only does alignments. That will happen on Monday (needed an appointment).

sidenote...The men running the alignment store are named Buck, Flea, and Skeeter. A young man named Peanut is the helper. All the men have more toes than teeth. How can I go wrong? my god.

Greetings.

My sweet car now has 4 new shoes. I had an odd situation, whereas the manager was teaching the new employee !.....

The installation of the 4 tires went very well..but the process took a few hours. I agreed to a complimentary 4 wheel alignment, as the manager wanted to train the new employee. And my alignment was slightly off! The tire pressure sensors are working as normal. I (so far) notice absolutely no difference in the way the car handles ( 3 mile drive...) from the prior tires. I probably should have waited...haha.

I was able to enter the work area and take photos of my car without wheels....!

I had the shop check my brakes,,and motor for any leaks. All good.

so 4 Michelin tires mounted/balanced..alignment..and a minor inspection of underbelly stuff was less than $1400...plus tip. They also checked the tire pressure in/on the spare tire.. and replaced the wheel centers on the rims. I provided the wheel centers.

Pictures soon...

I'm happy.

What Michelins did you get? $1300-$1400 sounds a bit pricey to me for 4 tires mounted and balanced with a no charge alignment.....

Recommend you get them thru Tire Rack next time and use their mobile tire install folks or a Tire Rack installer.

I'm in the market for a new set of tires as well. I don't "race" my car and am looking for low noise and ride comfort. The OEM tires are Michelin Primacy MXM4; any thoughts on/experience with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 or Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus?

Take a look at Yokohama Advan Sport A/S + all seasons from Tire Rack in your sizes W or Y rated (~ 180 mph ) , come in XL (extra load ) and ~$200 per tire.

They handle extremely well and last a long time. Very Low noise and ride just fine. Dry and wet performance is top notch and they even handle the occasional snow and cold (5F) well too

They are what i have had on my A207 E350 cab for several years. Highly, highly recommend them

I have the XL Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on my 2018 E400 Coupe, and I'm very happy with them. IMHO they are far better than the lousy RFTs that came with the car in three very important aspects: handling, road noise, ride comfort.

I'm not surprised that they are far better than the RFTs, which were the very reason why I bought a 2016 model instead of the new design. I was transitioning from a BMW with RFTs and, although I loved everything else about that car, the tires were simply too loud and harsh. While shopping around, I looked at a 2017 Benz and found that there was no spare in the trunk, which was a deal-breaker. The salesman said, "None of them have spares anymore; if you want a spare in the trunk, you'll have to go back to a 2016 model". And that's exactly what I did.

That is the downside. OTOH, even if the car did have space for a spare, there's no way at this stage of the game that I would try to change a tire should I experience a flat. That's what AAA is for! But I do have a can of tire inflator and a few other tings in the trunk, and I did buy a Modern Spare tire to take on any long trips where AAA or other tow/repair services might not be available, but it takes up too much of the trunk so it sits in my garage.

Rant of the day: The decision by auto manufactures to eliminate the spare tire and instead to sell cars with shi**y RFTs in order to cut their costs (but not ours) and to ever so slightly increase gas mileage for advertising purposes was asinine and anti-consumer. May they all experience multiple simultaneous flats or blowouts (a known hazard with RFTs) when they are in the middle of nowhere, far from cell service.

I eschew run flats for numerous reasons including that they tend to break /crack rims and have a very rough ride
