Check Engine light FYI

Hey all this is just an FYI...
Check engine light came on with no other message.
spent 2 days wondering when the 550 was gonna leave me stranded, and where it was gonna leave me stuck, and whether I was gonna freeze my butt off waiting for a tow, and how much it was gonna cost me...
found some threads about checking the gas cap, so I did. I think it was loose.
people also mentioned, after reseating the gas cap that it can take a day or 2 before the light goes away.
several restarts didn't help, but after 2 days the light went away.
MB, how hard would it have been to pop up a message saying check the gas cap lol.
That's a lot of anxiety for an unsecured gas cap!

Have a good day folks!

Hopefully that's all it was. If so, I agree with you- it would seem appropriate to provide a simple message to tighten the gas cap.

I would deifnitely scan for codes just in case.

OBDii scan tools are so cheap these days, it's silly not to have one. You can get a dedicated scanner or one that transmits to your smartphone...
