Sunshade for Sunroof does not retract?

Sunshade for Sunroof does not retract?
Hello,
I have a C207 E350 Coupe and the sunshade fabric screen for the roof is parked in the closed position (it is extended and the fabric is covering the roof)
When I use the switch, I hear the motor operating, and there is no clicking or grinding sound. It sounds normal.
Furthermore, I am able to open the sunroof glass even though the sunshade fabric is still covering the sunroof hole.
What is going wrong here? It sounds like it's all probably just one motor that operates both parts? Is it some kind of gear? some kind of linkage? How can I get to the part that is messed up and fix it or replace it?
