Biggest way to get more performance is a tune. Renntech is probably the most increase in performance. Not cheap to buy but certainly is the thing a lot of people like to do. Also they sell other performance parts.
Outside of Renntech, there is also Eurocharge, Weistec, and DME that are popular.
Mechanical upgrades you could look to do upgraded intake, exhaust, spark plugs, turbos, and suspension.

Depending on past service, it would be smart to ensure the engine/trans health is up to par before modding. 31k miles is great but age (2012) gets to parts as well. Just preventative maintenance can have a decent size cost to it. Replace any aged plastics in the engine area (turbo cooling lines/vacuum lines etc.), replace tensioners/check valves, trans service with valve body cleaning, address engine oil leaks (front cam covers/rear cam plug etc.), install updated cam sensors and new cam magnets, install pigtails on cam sensors/magnets, unplug oil pressure solenoid, replace old o-rings and gaskets (oil/coolant cooler/oil filter housing etc.), change rear diff fluid, replace hardware removed (most hardware is aluminum/one time use/torqued to spec.). Basic mods for engine health could maybe be air box spacers (better breathing), code dash to see additional engine parameters, install oil catch cans. Check camshaft correction factor and get a compression test maybe to know where its at. FYI, you prob have silitec cylinder liners. Run 5w40 and change about 5k miles. Lots of folks want to mod without doing the basic stuff first. Read threads and get Benz-Ninja if you care about the car and plan to keep it for a good while! It will save you lots of $$$ Good luck!
