AirCap

I have a 2011 E350 cabriolet. The other day after driving with the top down I noticed that the AirCap was still in the up position after closing the roof. Upon further inspection I saw that one of the swivel arms that connect to the wind deflector had broke off. I removed the broken piece that was blocking the closure and it retracted. I have a few questions about it. Is that swivel arm replaceable? Will it affect the function of roof sealing? What is the part number of the AirCap. Will the facelift version of A207 part be the same? Thanks.

Anything is repairable, but you won't find spare parts for it. It is sold as a unit, so you'd have to go to a breaker. However, when using used parts, you have no guarantee how long the repair will last, especially with so many plastic bits. Replacing the unit can be a DIY and there are threads on doing that. I don't have access to a garage, and I didn't want to deal with a used part, so I had the dealership take care of it.

Thanks for the responses. As of right now it does not seem to affect functionality. The rear window has started to separate from the roof just a little. I believe it is the water bag straps? My wife really loves the car but may be time to look for another.

2011 E350 Cabriolet
I just picked up a 2011 E350 Cabriolet, and the Aircap doesn't work and no lights on the button. The rear works fine with the button on the dash. Dealer quoted me $4,400.00. NOT. Not sure if I'm even goint to pursue it, as I find it kind of useless. Wind doesn't really bother me, as I ride a motorcycle and that's why I bought a convertible. Maybe tinker with it as a winter project.

For the age of your cab, that's not worth it. However, it can be a DIY job and the part itself can be found used for much less than a new one. You may want to consider that, but then again, as a cycle rider, maybe it won't be worth it, even as a DIY. That said, I have a HD Fatboy with loud pipes, but I do appreciate the Aircap on my 2015 cab, as with the top down, Aircap up and windows up, you can actually have a conversation with your passenger without shouting...
