Proof of concept: E63S AMG LSD diff in a 2010 E550 Coupe
I tested out a long working theory I had on my 2010 E550 coupe. The rear differentials looked identical between a 2014-2016 E63S AMG and my 2010 E550 coupe. I even went as far as checking the part numbers on the pumpkins via various sources, it's the same housing. I confirmed the final drive ratio for my E550, which is 2.65:1, which matches the ratio on the 5.5LTT E63S AMG.
So I bought one and just finished up swapping the diff. Direct swap and bolt up. CV axles pop right in. You need to get 75W-140 MB-A 235.61 diff fluid, but that is the only difference. Fired up the vehicle with no error codes; not that I expected one with a mechanical diff. No programming needed. So this works!
