E500 (C207) Command Online Processor Faulty
Hi folks,
I've recently taken ownership of an immaculate 2012 E500 (C207) with just over 91,000km (57,000 miles) - M278 engine - she is an incredible car but is proving expensive to maintain. Please can you offer some advice on these topics:
1) My radio has stopped working (I have the NTG 4.5 version with Harman Kardon sound). The dealer has advised that the fault is "Comand online processor failure" and I have taken the vehicle to an electronic expert for a 2nd opinion. A new radio via the agents is an exorbitant amount, but I want very much to keep the car original, so am looking for help. My question : can an identical used radio be purchased or removed from a scrapyard and fitted to my car? I have been told that one has to "divorce" the existing radio with a code and then "marry" a new radio with another code - is this correct and can it be done by anyone other than the agents? What are my options?
2) I have the dynamic handling package option (electronic dampers). At what stage do these need to be replaced and if so, can a non-OE option be fitted? How do you handle the electronic sensors - can they be blanked off?
Thanks, Ryan V (Port Elizabeth, South Africa)
