2012 E250 Cab - Drivers window not closing
I have what seems like a pretty common issue with my drivers window not dropping when I open the door, also when I close the door the rear window doesn't go up the last 5 or 10mm like its supposed to.
Passenger side is fine and works as expected. I've read many many threads on resetting the windows but none of the answers or videos works for me.
Things I've tried..
1) opening the window using the first manual setting and holding for 30 seconds, then closing the window on the first manual setting and holding for 30 seconds.
during the holding when the window is closed, after 15 or so seconds it sometimes drops itself about 2 inches. Whenever it does this I release and immediately close and hold again.
sometimes I have to do this 3 or 4 times until it no longer drops itself the 2 inches anymore and stays up.
2) opening the window using the first manual setting and releasing then immediately holding for 30 seconds, then closing the window on the first manual setting and releasing and immediately holding for 30 seconds.
again I might have to do this 3 or 4 times before the window will stay closed without dropping the 2 inches.
3) As 1 & 2 but for different durations of 1 second, and 5 seconds. Also using the second auto setting on the switch for 1 or 5 seconds.
4) Charging both batteries fully overnight then trying 1, 2, and 3 again.
5) Disconnecting both batteries and leaving the car for 30 mins, then trying 1, 2, and 3 again.
If I close the window on the auto up switch, it raises to the top then drops half way down. The strange thing is that I left the car last night after giving up, when I went to it this morning the window had closed itself fully.
However the issue still remains. Any advice on how to proceed? I'm thinking of replacing the drivers door control module next, if that doesn't fix it I guess I'll have to take it to a garage that has STAR.
Thanks,
Mark.
What works for me is only disconnect the battery if the windows are all normally closed, and so far I haven't an issue since.
So I suppose I'd try that? Get everything closed normally, then disconnect the batt for xx time, reconnect and see what happens?
To get them closed when uncooperative, while I'm outside the car, I use the key to close them. Worth a shot...
Just replaced the door control module and its fixed the window.
The access panel made it a 2 minute job and the part was £12 delivered on eBay for a used module
No coding required... Result
