Darned Hydraulic Leak - stuck soft top roof
I'll submit a more detailed post in a while but for now the summary is that I developed a leak in the hydraulic line on the driver's side of the roof mechanism.
I've watched Car Wizard and Grey Trends videos. I've purchased the hydraulic coupler/repair kit. I've purchased the hydraulic fluid from Amazon. And I bought a lubricant suction gun at Harbor Freight. (links below for convenience).
The first time that I saw the leak the roof had almost completely opened. I was able to close it before too much mess was made.
I now need to open it enough to access the hydraulic line to splice in the couplers but it appears that the break in the line is sufficiently bad that it will not retract quite far enough. It's too fiddly in the confined space with the roof closed to properly repair the line.
You can see the bend/breach in the hydraulic line from inside.
Does anyone have instructions for how to manually open the soft top roof? There are a few how-to videos for how to CLOSE the roof but it doesn't seem as straightforward as reversing those steps...
