Plastic Chrome Repair?

The chrome trim on my center console bezel is chipping off. It looks like I can separate the chrome trim from the bezel. Any ideas on how to rechrome the plastic?

I had similar issue and either get metallic tape and retape over the spot that is coming off or buy a used part that still has the chrome intact. I did see it for sale on eBay.

Just buy a new one. Hint. there is a trim that is satin not chrome and will not peel off easily. Look for 2013-2014 W204 trim and those wont be chrome but satin.

I have a convertible and this piece is very difficult to find. The one you listed is for a coupe or sedan. That being said, I might be able to use the chrome trim from the above bezel on my existing bezel. I wouldn't know until I got one here. anyone have the OEM part number for the bezel linked above?

Yeah you are right, the convertible is harder to find. Looking at your picture, the model number of the part is stamped into the plastic, 2076800407 or 207-680-04-07. I didnt see any in black on eBay. I did find this as a brand new part but isn't cheap. https://cars245.com/en/item/mercedes...7649H44-cover/

For my car, I just used black electrical tape on the one spot that was peeling. I noticed it was caused by a Owala metal coffee thermos I use and it rubs just a bit on the chrome and caused it to flake off. So I put a couple of pieces of well positioned and carefully cut black electrical tape so it wouldnt keep rubbing or touching that spot. I like electrical tape because it can be removed later without any residue and has a bit of softness to it that helps with the specific thermos that seemed to cause the flaking to begin with. Now it won't bang or touch the edge of the cupholder.

What I would do is either sandblast it and paint it black, or whatever color you want, or get some of that vinyl wrap. The wrap comes in all kinds of colors and patterns, maybe even chrome? A little piece of wrap like that shouldn't be but $10 or so? Optionally you could do other trim and what not that could use a refresh.
