Active Parking Assist
2019 A238 Has anyone had experience with Active Parking Assist? It does not show me any perpendicular parking spaces only parallel...

I test drove an E450 Cabriolet with Active Parking Assist. It accurately parked in perpendicular spots for me. It was able to either back in or park head in. It was very accurate and easily picked the right spots.

If it's like the parking thingy on the 2018, it's not worth bothering with unless you're an incompetent parker. VERY slow, bypasses perfectly good spaces while looking for one that's about 10 feet wider than the car is long. Definitely not ready for prime time IMHO.

Another thing to consider is that if you get the Parking Assistance Package and the Driver Assistance Package in the 2019s, you also get rear cross-traffic alert and extended 30 second stop and go capability when using Distronic. Both are very useful.

I noticed that when parking if I get close to an obstacle “LIM” is displayed at the top of the overhead camera view. I have also seen “LIM” in the parking and maneuvering setup screen. Photo attached. Anyone know what LIM means in this context?

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I think the parking assist was improved on the 2019's. I had a 2018 and my 2019 is better, no issues with the parking assist in it. Also the Distronic is much improved too. My 2018 was constantly trying to cut off on exits off the highway, the 2019 does not do this, it stays straight down the highway.

Sadly, I haven't had the opportunity to test the parking assist feature yet.
I want to do it when there aren't other cars waiting behind me because I know that I and or/the car will cause some delays.
Hopefully when Christmas & New Year are out of the way and the sales are over, traffic will be less and car parks wont be so busy - then I can try this out to see how well it works (or doesn't).

I have tested the Parking Assist Feature in my 2019 C-Coupe,
Seems like it prefers the parallel over perpendicular (programmed or so),
Coz in my garage spot which is a perpendicular parking, the car always chooses the next spot as it's wider and it's parallel

I have found that the 2019 active parking assist works very well when you drive close enough to available spots. This weekend I gave it a workout. First I drove down the center of an isle with perpendicular spots on both sides. It was inconsistent at best. Then, I drove much closer to the one side and it accurately picked out all the available spots. Driving so close to the line of parked cars and the sharp maneuvering required to park made this a little uncomfortable at first. The car did very well though, didn’t hit anything. It was very accurate.

I have active parking on my 2019 e cabrio.
Its a a cool feature and the dealer said it was significantly improved for 2019.
However, it’s far from perfect. If parallel parking and the car in front or back is very close to the curb, it may curb rash the rims. It’s also pretty slow and takes more points than needed.

I use it on the rare occasion that I need to parallel park (although my last car a 2013 Escape titanium did the same thing perfectly). I find the perpendicular parking assist completely useless. First off, unless there is but a single empty space between two occupied space, it won’t see it. In addition the few times I’ve tried to use it, I end up with people pissed off at me because of how flipping long it takes to park!
i use the “overhead” camera WAAAAAY more when parking to make sure I’m not going to get curb rash or scrape the front on a parking pylon.

I have it on my 2018 E Sedan and I use it all of the time for parallel parking, it works just fine. I have 2019 E450 Cab on order and hopefully it works just as well.

Just tried 3 times today with my 2019 GLC300. Perpendicular parking does NOT work. For a very easy spot the car had to make it more complicated went back and forth many time. Made me look like an idiot driving a Benz.

I have 2018 A238 and mine will do both angles of parking.
I don't use it much because I can park quicker doing it myself, but testing it for fun sometimes, and it definitely will offer perpendicular options when available.
