I had my windows tinted last week and the technician realized that his protective magnetized blankets would not stick to the engine hood nor the trunk lid. He said they were made of fiberglass. Is this true? I saw for myself that the magnets wouldn't stick to those surfaces. I don't know why they don't use fiberglass all the way around as they would probably not dent as easy.

That would be aluminum. Some of the bumper panels are composite, but the body structures are still aluminum / stamped steel. My 'old' R231 SL550 was all aluminum; even the chassis structure.
