Dealer ordering recommendation
I'd like to order a 2022 E450 Cabriolet and am looking for recommendations for a good dealer to work with. One that knows how to place an order with a specific set of options, has plenty of allocation slots and is willing to accept a reasonable price (3-5% below MSRP). I live in Atlanta, but am comfortable ordering from anyone and flying in to pick up the car.
My local dealers tell me that they can't currently place orders, but I've seen where others in this form say they've placed them. Either something has changed or my local folks don't know how to properly work the system.
I greatly appreciate all recommendations.

-plenty of allocation
-3-5% off MSRP
You might have read a little something about COVID. MB is having a hard time building any models, especially coupes and cabriolets. My E450 Coupe order has been cancelled once and now delayed twice. No one can guarantee when or if any particular model will actually be built.

2019 E450 wagon: 2019 BMW 430i: 2013 Chevy Traverse: (departed)2013 SL550 & 2019 E450 cab
I posted the following earlier in the month after a visit with a friend who is a MB dealership manager and I should think it pertinent to your question:
Even after a few glasses of wine, my Mercedes dealer friend would not confirm or deny the C and E class coupe and cab are to be discontinued. He did say that at the moment, he has one E class cab coming in for stock, and none confirmed beyond that in the order slots that the dealership had placed. Indeed, after searching all of the Mercedes dealers in Tennessee, at the moment there is one C class cabriolet in inventory, that's it, and zero E class (there is now one). Doing a national search in CarGuru, they show thirteen E class cabs in dealer inventory at this moment.
After going through the litany of the scarcity of chips, tires, and various other parts, throwing the impact of Covid on production rates, et al., he did note that the resurrection of the CLE is a possibility, something akin to the A207 size replacing both C & E class models. His best guess is that the '22 C & E coupes and cabs will be very limited in production scheduling, and dealers will be charging a premium for the ones that they do have in inventory, not knowing if there will be a significant supply forthcoming.
Surging sales of the SUVs, lagging sales of coupes and cabs, MB investment in EQ platforms, and a very strong focus on profitability of each model is driving the overall decision by MB. His advice; if you have an E cab or coupe, and enjoy them, hang on to them.

Hi,
I've had an order in at my Dealer now since Dec 2020 for an E450 Cab and was replaced with 2022 without any prices or build date. I've made a deposit then and now in some kind of que so my Dealer said. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get this car? Can anyone shed some light on Covid, Chips, Production or should I start looking at BMWs, Jag, Lex, etc? Any suggestions that I can ask my Dealer as to what is happening.
Thanks ...

When I wanted to order a '21 E53 coupe the end of January, the first available date to open up for ordering was the end of April. That was the ONLY order slot for the any model at that dealer;& he only got that one by trading an in-stock car to another dealer for his slot.
My order( now bumped to a '22 model) is still 'Yellow',meaning it's paused until part availability occurs.
Hurry up & wait as they say.

When my wife's was delivered a few months ago, the sales agent said there was a deduction for an option that could not be delivered. My heart sank as I was worried it would be something like Air Body Control. Fortunately, it was just the chrome inserts on the door handles.

I was interested in the car TennesseeZ4 mentioned. I called on it. They are asking $15,000 over the MSRP of $85,000. The car is loaded and even at that price I could be tempted. Perhaps they would give me $15,000 over book value for my
2014 E class Cab trade in. I have an order in for a MY2022 cab. Who knows, by the time it gets here it may run 100K.

Wow! $15K over MSRP is pretty stratospheric. I do know that the CPO units are also on the high end of used. We are shopping for a CPO E wagon, and they are certainly holding their values. Wow.
