Just picked up my E450 4Matic Coupe

Ordered in April. The dealer (Fletcher-Jones of Fremont, CA) had an order slot when no other area dealers did (including AutoNation). They were very informal, agreed to my price and didn't take a deposit; just sent me a copy of the order sheet. The ordering process took about 15 minutes. With all the reports of shortages and only general assurances from the dealer that the order was in and being built, I was not confident it would actually show up, but it was only about a month late.

But then they wouldn't sell it to me for the agreed-upon price — they wanted $10K more because of the shortages. They said (and they're right) that there are no cars on lots and they could sell it instantly for $10K over. I have too much else to stress out about right now, so after talking them down to $5K I took it. Still think it's sleazy. They didn't mention anything about the price changing at any point until I walked into the dealer to take delivery. It's on me that I didn't get a written signature on the deal. I guess you could argue we didn't even shake hands on the price because of COVID :-)

Options: AMG package (mainly to get those red seats), Air Body Control, and driver assistance package. I wanted the massaging seats but as others have noted, they're unavailable until November builds of 2022 MY cars. The dealer added the "augmented video for navigation" option without asking me, and then MB deleted it because of the chip shortage — they'll retrofit it when the chip becomes available. Substituted all season run-flats for the summer tires that come with the AMG package because I got the 4Matic to make it easier to drive into the Sierras in the winter, and I don't have the space or inclination to store and change a separate set of winter tires.

I love the car. The dealer not so much.

I really like the red seats with the red paint.

I have to hand it to my dealer. We set a price in March when I ordered it. Then I realized I could buy through Costco and save money. I threatened to cancel the order unless they came down. They did. The car arrived in July. No mention of changing the price. We signed the papers and I drove home.

E 450 4matic cab MY22
My dealer has given me verbal assurance that I will pay MSRP for my 2022 Cab that I have ordered. It will be interesting to see if he stays with that if and when the car arrives. I could buy one now off a lot in Knoxville for 15K over MSRP. That is if they haven't sold it in the last couple of days. This is a crazy market for cars right now. 5K over list is probably not too bad.

E450A4 Delivery

Your car looks great. I've had on order a 2021 E450A4 Cab (not making any more) since Dec 4th, 2020. The dealer said they will replace it with 2022. I did put a deposit down of $1,000 which I hope is a binding agreement to purchase that car. I still have no delivery or build date on this car. Any suggestion as to what I can do. I'm thinking of telling MB to keep the car and start looking for an Audi, Jag or BMW.

2017 mercedes GLE 43 coupe
Merc had halted production of its E Class for both sedan and wagon body styles at Daimler’s plant in Sindelfingen, Germany awhile.
It’s not that Mercedes lacked chips as a whole, but wants to conserve whatever stock & supply it has for three other models built there: the all-new EQS, the S-Class and the S-Class Maybach.

The decision to temporarily sacrifice the E-Class for the company’s new flagship electric vehicle makes total sense. Mercedes has a lot riding on its new luxury EV, the EQS and any production delays will have serious consequences. The EQS system is underpinned on an 8-core Nvidia CPU architecture which is completed by an energy GPU system that powers the user interface of the extended screen (in short, it’s a PC on wheels). The decision to keep the S-Class and S-Class Maybach assembly lines running makes sense for another important reason. They’re very profitable, probably more so than the E-Class and have a high demand in the hottest car market, China.

Don't know what to tell you. You probably won’t have much luck on the other ones either. When I went to build a BMW on the web site, some of the options I wanted weren’t even available. Sorry. I know that can be frustrating. I was frustrated and I only waited 5 months.

'22 E450 Cab Order Canceled, Tesla Model S; Telluride
I have an E450 Cab on order. Originally a 2021, but changed to a 22. When I placed the order back in April, I was assured that the agreed upon price (~$7K off MSRP) was going to be valid (also have an email). However, in my case I did put down a $1500 deposit. At this point, I don't expect the vehicle until November timeframe. It's also a FJ location but in in Ontario, Calif. Hope they don't pull a switcheroo because of "market conditions"!! I'll be pretty infuriated.
