Cabriolet Top Issues
Well, it happened to me. One of the multitude of cords which anchor / operate the convertible top came loose with a large pop, and the inner head liner has come adrift in the area behind the drivers seat. Two years old, 16K miles, and maintained by the book; at least it is warranty. Will take photos when I get to the dealership as I am fearful of lowering the top and not having it come back in place. They have ordered a 'kit' and a new headliner, said it may take seven hours to do the work. I said give me a loaner, do not hurry the work, just do it right. More to follow.

Mine goes in tomorrow, the dealer states that they have all the parts in for repairs; we'll see how it goes!

New Headliner Installed by MB dealer.
6 days at the dealership and 7 hours of labor plus parts and I’m back in my 450 = very happy to still be under warranty
lease ends in November with a $43k buyout- MB dealer offered me $58k currently 22k miles on a 2019
I have leased cars for 30 years and this is the first time I’ll be buying at the end of the lease, considering the availability of a new ride I think it’s best just to drive this puppy for another year
and prime drop top weather is only 6 weeks away in SOFLA.

Similar story to happyinboca, put the car in the shop Tuesday, parts arrived late Thursday, repairs completed and car picked up on Saturday. Couple of new cables, along with a new headliner, warranty covered, and now back on the road. My service manager, that I have known for seventeen years, says that this is a repair and not a fix, as the parts used were the same installed at the time of the build. So it is expected that there will be other cable replacements down the road, which does not make me very happy. That being said, I do plan to keep this car in our garage for a long time, enjoying the drive, ride, and style which are all most unique. Also after reading the comments from Mercedes-Benz's chief operating officer, Markus Schäfer, this week regarding the diminishing market prospects for both the estate / wagon and the cabriolets, we may not have a MB cabriolet much longer. We intend to enjoy the drive in the E450 for a long time, cables can be replaced.
