Soft top fabric protection

I have used 303 brand fabric guard and I’ve been pleased with the results. It was designed for Sunbrella marine fabrics but it seems to work fine on my top. It is a bit of a pain to avoid overspray but the water really beads.
However, when I talked to my service rep he told me that Mercedes does not recommend any top treatment. I wonder what others do?

a001986317110. I haven’t used it, but it appears to be available in some areas. It’s top protection.

Never used that. I have used the 303 protectant on the tonneau and top of my MG. It is outstanding and last forever. I may try that product on my cab. I assume it is available on Amazon.

I had a E550 Cab prior for ten years with untreated top and it was fine. We asked the same question to the MB Dealer and they said use only authorized MB products because unknown products potentially could do more harm than good.

And you expected then to say, “ Sure, no reason to use MB products!” chuckles

My last three soft top convertibles received the RaggTopp cleaning and treatment made by Wolfstein.

Haatz is the company that manufactures the cloth tops for Mercedes and other European convertibles, (link to an article about Haatz https://www.thehogring.com/2020/06/0...s-convertible/ )

Haatz endorses and has worked with RaggTopp to ensure quality standards for application on their products. I have been quite pleased with the product.

Fabric top update

I followed up on the suggestions that you have posted. I think all three options should work.
1) That Mercedes-Benz part number 001986317110 is available and costs $25.49 according to my PA dealer.

2) I spoke to the technical guy at the company that makes the 303 fabric protector recommended by Sunbrella. He felt that it would work on Haartz fabrics just as well. He also said I would need alcohol to get the overspray off my windows if I wasn’t careful.

3) I went to the Wolfsteins web site and talked to a customer service rep about Ragg Topp. They are priced similar to the 303 fabric protector but say that their product was tested and endorsed by Haartz.

My conclusion
Both 303 and Ragg Topp had great customer service and products. I went with Ragg Topp because M-B uses Haartz fabrics. (And they had a package on sale.)

I found a great YouTube video showing the different results of 303 vs RaggTop. The comments were also helpful.

Great video

Wow. Great video. Thanks for sharing! I have now used both products on my E450 cab. I do agree with the video that the 303 beads better. However, the Raggtop goes on easier (spray bottle vs aerosol can) and the overspray is easier to clean.
I suspect the different delivery methods allows for a greater amount of the 303 product to be deposited on the top.
