Where is my car?….

On February 15, 2021, I placed an order for a 2021 E450 cabriolet for my wife with my dealer Benzel Busch in Englewood NJ.

Here we are, in August 2022 and still no car. I have a purchase order number and a VIN and am told (by other dealers) the car was completed in March 2022 (it has now morphed into a 2022) and sitting somewhere in Germany on a dock awaiting a part or two.

My dealer has been zero help, as has MBNA.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone offer any suggestions or comfort?

Ours was built on July 19th and the status is ship assigned but no name so far. And it is a 23. Do you have any idea what parts yours is waiting for?

i would have canceled the order months ago. It’s not worth the aggravation.

2022 GLB 250 4matic
I didn't wait as long as you, but it took me over 10 months to get my GLB and I changed it from an AMG to AMG Package and upgrades to get it built. Your salesmen can look it up in their system. It will show a status code or something, I know a lot of GLBs would get to produced but then sit with some dock code for ages that basically meant it was missing a part. I would get those parts are chip related. In the end mine ended up coming "dumber" than it was supposed to be with AR navigation and things like that missing. Good luck. I'd stick with it just because they'll have to honor the price from when you ordered it for the most part. But maybe order you another while you wait in the wife's name or something? I doubt any Benz dealer would care about having extra inventory if you decided you didn't want it after it arrived. Another reason to stick with your original order is if anything changed to 2022 or 2023 model you may still have a good chance to get it. I got some options on my GLB that weren't offered if you tried to build one in 2022. Good luck!

E 450 4matic cab MY22
There seems to be very little rhyme or reason as to why cars are delayed. Our cab was built in the third decade in March and has everything we ordered. It was delivered in late April, early May. It even has the hands free trunk which we were told was not available. We didn't order AR navigation or heads up display. However the car will just about park and drive itself, has the AMG styling, 4matic, heating package, mbux, etc... Don't know why we got it delivered so soon after manufacture without a long port wait.
