'18 CPO- Roof and dash issues advise requested

I finally traded up. Gone is my BMW e46 330Ci convertible and new in the garage is a CPO 2018 e400 convertible (34k miles). Despite a few issues I am excited about the miles ahead.

I am thankful for the MBWorld Community helping to identify an issue before it is catastrophic. Almost immediately my roof stopped retracting all the way. After some digging and finding a service bulletin (thank you @konigstiger ) I am able to identify part of the problem. Some of the cords are frayed of broken. My dealer will be solving this problem in a few weeks. It appears this is not uncommon. Probably well worth the 3 year CPO warranty. I am glad it is not prime convertible season.

One issue that I could not find any information about was excessive wear on the dash board. My car has the Natural Grain Black Ash Wood dash and center console (#736 & 737). The finish appears to rubbed off or peeling in several locations. Has anyone encountered this on the natural grain finishes? I am going to push the dealer for repair or replacement. If they are not cooperative, are there any suggestion for a stain or treatment that will minimize additional damage. And repair or cover up the existing damage? All ideas are welcome,

I'll follow-up with the group if my dealer fixes it.

Once the weather clears, full images will be posted as well.

Thanks for the help.

My wife has a 2018 E400 Cabrio and the top is probably the biggest issue. That trim looks horrible. The pieces that are cracked need to be replaced but the ones that are worn can probably be lightly sanded and re-stained with a satin top coat. If this is a CPO car they should be able to fix all the wood trim though. Replacement is the best option. You need to push the dealer though as some will push back on trim repairs. My wifes car has the same open pore wood and it still looks like new so something must have happened with that trim.

I have the same trim and it looks as new. I would guess someone used an inappropriate cleaning product on yours.

@teksurv and @superpop thank you for the reply.
I have no history on the dash maintence however since the car is a CPO I hope MB Richmond will cover it. The car is heading back to the dealer in January to address all issues.

From looking deeper the Roof appears to be a known issue and should fall inside the warranty.

I'll follow-up in January.

Sorry do be the one in dissent but it just looks to me like someone abused the dash. If MB replaces it that's great, but that doesn't look like a manufacturer defect. I have a 2018 and the dash still looks new. When buying the car this is something you took on. You probably shouldn't expect them to own the issue.

Same here. I agree that someone may have used a harsh cleaner on the dash, or perhaps they lived in an unusually damp climate.

Followup

Finally I have my car back. All issues were addressed and resolved. MB of Richmond did the right thing and repaired the top and dash pieces. From looking up the parts installed and guesstimated labor it would have a $5000-$6000 service.
I'll post updated photos once the weather breaks.

Dealer had to rectify given both are listed in CPO inspection/certification.
