Convertible??

COming to work this am. I had to take a detour and drove past a W123 coupe and it was convertible. I don't remember there ever being a convertible for this class or was there?

Anyway, just wanted to get your input. The car was for sale and I want to go back to check it out, looked in pretty good shape.

Conversion by Crayford. It was officially recognized by MB back in the day. Rare and expensive before... still rare now but less expensive.

Check it out and post pics.

Arrow Listed on craigslist for a while?

Did you see this vehicle?

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1294495993.html

It's been listed on CL for at least a month or two (not surprising since it has a specialized appeal). It certainly has potential as a fun summer car; a 300CE cab would probably run $7,000-12,000.

99% of W123 convertibles are aftermarket hack jobs, the other 1% are aftermarket professional conversions.

Either way its very important that the body has been reinforced for safety, the roof is a major structural strength component.

Glad to be of help. Please post your reaction if you take a closer look; as 240D says, most conversions are mere hack jobs, and perhaps you uncovered a diamond in the rough.

I doubt that's a Crayford anyway.
