230E - Saying hello & question about fan coupling
I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Peter and I own a 1985 W123 230E manual. The car has had three previous owners and covered 93k miles, sadly without FSH. Here's the car:
Whilst the car is generally in good condition, the fan coupling has failed. To prevent the engine from running hot I have locked the coupling whilst sourcing a replacement. As an alternative I might fit an electric fan. The locked coupling is most probably doing the waterpump bearing harm and fuel economy is suffering.
The coupling fitted to my car has a part number: 200 102 05 05
I have been advised that this is not the correct part for a 230E. Could someone please tell me what the correct part number should be.
Eurocarparts charge £230 for a coupling and I'm not even sure that it is the correct part for my car. Are there cheaper alternatives?
Has anyone fitted an electric fan to their W123? I understand that some models came with electric fans fitted as standard.
Regards,
Peter

200 102 05 05 is the correct part number for your application.
