It goes like this, with an automatic trans? ![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
85' 300D trans just won't shift into the next gear, motor revs up and transmission stays put. Shifting into Neutral, then back to Drive a few times will sometimes make it shift. This MB sat for about a year, vacuum lines are good, trans fluid looks good...mechanic said it may be the governor and they would need to drop the trans to investigate.
Any advice?![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)

Check the Modulator to besure the Cap is on it and the Cap is not cracked.
Just to rule it out as a possibility I would change the Transmission Filter. Unlike a lot of American Cars that only have a screen in the AT Filter the Mercedes actually has a paper Filter Element.
It also give you a chance to look for particles of something at the bottom of the Pan.
