Unhappy Warning Lights

I recently bought a 1992 190E Auto. About a week ago, the warning light between the battery and handbrake started to come on. What is that? ABS warning light or check engine?

Also, when I shift the car in reverse, it takes a while before actually reversing. Is this a sign that the transmission is dying?

Can it be the warning ligth for worn out brake-pads? Check out the condition of the front brake-pads. If they are worn out, change them and the warning light should go off.
