Photos of a 124 from Down Under !

Hey everyone, just thought I would post some pics of my baby on here for you to check out and give me your opinion.

Painted the grille and the bumper inserts this week, not sure if I like how the grille turned out.

Anyhow, give me your feedback. No other mods planned at this stage except for some clear tail lights and maybe some of those headlight eyebrow moulds that Ashman has. Cheers !

Looks really good. I like the paint color of your car. The grill imo looks nice. So don't worry too much about that.

How hard was it to paint the impact bumpers? I've been meaning to paint mine but don't know if I want to do so.

Great work on the car so far though. Are those replica AMG wheels?

Forgot this pic which is quite cool and some details of the car:
1990 Japanese Spec Model imported by me to Australia about 2mths ago. Genuine one owner 60,000kms , AMG lowered suspension, "Intra" 17in alloys (AMG Monoblock 2 piece copies I guess, but they are made in Germany not some cheap Chinese crap that you see getting around) the rest you can see. The car is immaculate and all I have done is polish it, tint the windows, added the wheels and fitted a new audio head unit !

By the way, I have been messing about with stuff from Japan for about 15 years and there is some choice stuff to be found there. Not sure how hard it is to get that stuff into the states, but it sure is worth finding out. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Sounds good!

Importing stuff from Japan to the US is definately expensive. What have you gotten from them and what not? I wouldn't mind some black amg aero 1 hammer wheels, since they are all over their cars there. I like how those 2 piece monoblocks replica's look on your car.

How was the progress when you painted the bumpers?

japanese is right hand drive, US is left hand drive, so I think there will be some issue here

Hey Chris, I lived in Japan for nearly 7 years exporting containers of used auto parts and used cars, mainly back to OZ, some to NZ and some to PNG that was workin for someone else and the five years after I did it for myself. This is my first foray into the European car scene , I was a die hard Jap car nut prior to this, had a few GTRS and Supras and I used to laugh at BM and Merc drivers... now I am a bit older I am appreciating different things and the reason I got this oldie is because import laws in OZ are very strict, only allowing vehicles 15years and older to come in, there are still some gems around though...like this one and they are really really cheap.

Its hard finding specific bits unless you are either "Johnny on the spot" or you order new. When I was doing it there was no such thing as E-Bay or the Yahoo auction sites, now you can find most of what you need on-line.

If you are game, check out the Yahoo Japan auction site, it will blow your mind ! You might need to go through a translator site to be able to understand it though !

Thanks for the feedback, not sure what you meant about "progress when painting the bumpers" ?? I took mine to a pro mate of mine and it took about a day and cost me AU$100 each to do it. Take it to a pro though or make sure that you get the correct plastic primers etc and prepare the surface well since black bumpers are prone to getting flooded with silicone spray when detailing (makes them look blacker !)

hey mercbee, you are right however the majority of Euro cars in Japan are LHD all the Jap cars are RHD of course.....you can drive both on the road there with no drama. Most BMs Mercs and Porsches are left hook and you seem to come across some weird and wonderful stuff !

car looks good. I like the grill, but I would paint those chrome strips the same color as the frame...

Car looks very nice.

If you like the eyebrows, definately see if you can get some from kamei, high quality.

It looks good, I think it'll look a whole lot better if you flat badge it . It'll match more with the painted grill
