W124 Car Club
Hey I've ben toying for some time with the idea of getting a W124 car club together.
Especially with the large number of So Cal members out there. I hate showing
up at meets where C classes and 190's are more organized and have more representation then W124's. This would be an open W124 car club for modded, semi modded, to under construction vehicles. I think with our combined experience and talents we could take it beyond just the forums and help each other out personally on our various projects. We could get organized have small monthly fees like $5 or something to get t-shirts, logos, decals put together. Of course this would be a democratic process and everything would be voted on by joining members. I was thinking of a name that would best incorporate our various W124 models and yrs.
E-LUSIVE
"E" of course standing for Eclass...Let me know what you guys think and reply if anybody is interested. We can keep it local to Cali or make it world wide. Let's get some input and represent, last meet I was out I was the only W124.

For sure man, i would love a club like that. Can't have more 190's then w124's, it's just not right. It would be awsome to meet and exchange ideas and help each other out. I'm all for it, count me in

W124's
Ben, that sounds like a good idea. I was also wondering about this at some time before. Why have you been holding out! Anyways, I'm in for this W124 Car Club.
E-Lusive sounds kind of ricey. We would need something with a intimidating name since we are driving german cars.
You won't have to worry about the next meet, Hopefully ben you'll be able to make it to the June 11 cruise. I definately want to see you car and I, and a few others don't want to be the only W124's out there competiting against more modern cars.

Chris,
Alon & I talked about this awhile ago, but never really pursued it. Hopefully if there's enough serious feedback and willing members we can get this off the ground. The name for the club is still open, any suggestions would be appreciated. About the June 11th cruise I hope we can get more W124's to represent and get organized. The only one I know of is ClubW124 from Japan.
* NorCal - I suppose if there's other board members that aren't local to
So Cal and are interested in joining the W124 club I don't see why not.

I'll even build and host the clubs site for free
once it's up and rolling ofcourse, and if you'll have me as a member. Will we need to qualify to be a member?

E320,
See that's the kind of member we're looking for. Somebody willing to help out the car club and fellow members, just not somebody that wants to fly our banner and the only time you see them is at meets or shows. We can do without that type of member. My only criteria would be that members be serious about what they're doing, willing to help out fellow members & club, as well as represent the club in a positive fashion.
Your offer to host & build our club page is greatly appreciated. Once we get this off the ground we might have to take you up on that offer.. Like I said this will be a new W124 club that we're putting together, so all interested parties, we would like to hear your input. Name, club criteria, keep it So Cal local or open etc.....

Heck, i'll even register a domain name (once we have a club name) and put up registry form for new members if you would all like one. Just let me know what you all would like.
I think we should try to keep it as local as possible so this way everyone can know each other on a face to face basis. But if someone wanted to make another click say is N.Cal, then they can keep it local there for their group and you never know maybe one day we can have a statewide meet or even a national meet.
As for name i think we should have some thing that represents class and luxury, but also hinting it’s a car club of W124’ers.

I like this idea ALOT! it's been a while since I've been in a car club but I don't think much has changed. But I'm down, my only question would be..."to 190E or not to 190E?", that is the question. I say "Not.", that's just me.... but if it's a W124 club, then I think a W201 would be out of place. But I'm down for a club that's made up of both W124's and 201's. I'm cool eitherway, I just wanna know up front.
Also, I'd be willing to design the logo for free (gotta put that Art Center Ed. to use). I had an idea for a name if we're W124's only...E-leet 1-2-4 or E-leet124 or Elite-124, on the first two you'ld have to spell it that way or it would look like this...E-lite, like we're some kind a beer (lol)! Or maybe ONE2FOUR. Just some ideas.
Tony.

lol Tony. All your ideas are good.
I'll put my far share into this club as well. I'll be the official photographer.
Or help with the graphic design since I have some experience. My brother is also a website designer so I can put some input in there as well.
Let's get this thing started. So far everyone seems serious about it. As for the name, it needs to be something very catchy, yet not lame. Elective124, W124 Elite, EliteW124, Elite124, ONE2FOUR sounds good too. Or simply Club W124 USA. lol Looks like I should just using my imagination once again. Also, my sisters bf is a club promotor. Perhaps we can roll to clubs sometime and park in front VIP style. Get our name out. LOL. I've seen that happened before when he worked with EuroRev.com cars.
I wouldn't mind the Nor-Cal chapter. I think right now we should just start with the So-Cal chapter for now. Much like how Europrojektz have their 'chapters'
I don't know. I'm all out of ideas.

It sounds good to me.
I think we should try to get the ball rolling.
Perhaps we can work up some starting points to lay out the groundwork. we can't just jump blindly into it. we hsould make up a plan of action.
How about something simple like Club124.

The simple the better. Nothing to Fancy. We can just do what the japanese did and just use ClubW124.
Like Alon said, let's start laying out the ideas and what not. So this club gets started smoothly and successfully.

not too crazy about any name with the word "club" in it. Sounds stationary or redundent, I mean we know it's a club. Just my two cents.

well i guess i will be the goose that lays the golden egg.
i have many websites. i have a few dedicated linux servers. so i am willing to add a subdomain to one of my sites. the one i am thinking of would be like elusive.importaw.com or whatever. the importaw domains is allowed like 40gb or something like that of traffic a month.
i can easily set up a sql dbase or 2 if you need forums or to post pics and the like.
let me know.
i already run a huge forum like this through the gaming community i own.

based on the fact that i have run a successful community for 4 years.
i would:
1) find a name
2) secure a website (duh i already offered)
3) find web people (i believe 2 offered)
4) decide the depth and scope of your "club"
4a) what years if it is "E" class or body types
4b) should there be exceptions to 4a if one sells their existing car that qualifies
4c) decide who is going to be in charge of recruiting (this is key because then 1 person assists all new people and gets them up to speed
5) make a calendar of events
6) decide on how you would like to expand to other areas if there is an interest
7) set up a treasury based on paypal so people that wish to contribute via monetary donations can (this is how i keep my community spam free from ads)
8) Consider ways to attract companies once you are big enough to offer discounts like MBCOAmerica does
9) find out who can make a news letter and set up an easy to use email proggy that passes out said newsletter
10) get an events person (someone who loves to plan...someone who is creative and can make it fun for everyone)
if you want to view how i do it here are my forums
www.swat-clan.com/swatbb
notice all the posts just based on a vid game. it is easily scaleable.
