Need opinions on 190's

I found two 190's that I'm really interested in buying. They appear to be in above average condition. I don't know much about the 190 and I'm looking for some opinions....... What do you think?

1. 1992 2.6 5 spd 110K
2. 1993 2.6 5 spd 112K

Thanks.

Great cars...junior W124s as in they share many the same parts.

5 speeds are hard to find and both years there are the better ones (I miss my 92' 2.6 !!) Is the 93' a 'Sportline'? if so , grab it ...only 700 brought to US.

Check to see if they are using oil....usually they need a valve job starting around 120K. They are pretty solid machines IMO otherwise.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I had a '92 190E 2.6 automatic that I loved until it was totaled. They are a lot smaller than the W124's but more fun to drive in my opinion. More of that tight handling go-cart feel as oppossed to the smooth cloud riding W124. I would much rather have a 190 than a C class. The 190's are just smaller versions of W124's, were as the early C class is just cheap.

The W201 were definately good cars as well as fun ones too! My two of my sisters use to own two of then. They were fun until sadly one got totaled and the other just broke down.

My father currently drives an 86 190D. Stunning cars. The odo on it broke so we estimate it has 150k on it (I am sure that is a very very conservative number!). It had been trouble free for the most part and even managed to total a brand new volvo wagon in a fender bender. (the benz had 1500$ of damage, broken motor mounts probably due to age, broken radiator, and front grill was broken). Its a great road car and will happily cruise at 90mph while still managing 35 mpg. I now drive a 98 C230 but still think the 190 is a wonderful car. My only suggestion would be to spend the extra 200$ and buy the euro lights (if its a USA spec car). Makes the car look alot newer.

It's a great car. I had the pleasure of driving a 5sp one back in high school. Very much like the 124s but kinda small in the inside. There's also a much wider range of tuning options on the 190 and a more colorful racing heritage compared to the 124. Its a preference thing I suppose but whatever you decide to go with, you can't go wrong.
