91 300e revving 1500 rpm and higher
thanks in advance,
I've a 91 300E ....... I got a car wash yesterday (not sure if this has to do anything with the problem ....... but, here goes:
when I start the car, it at about 1500 RPM and then goes to like 2000 and then keeps going higher .....
I have changed the spark plugs and the air filter about 2 weeks ago .....
the problem started after the car wash yesterday ... not sure if water got into anything .......
any help would be appreciated!
Bobby

i had the same problem on my 1991 300te -24 and i found that the
micro switch on the throttle under the air filter at the driver side
is not function. i took it out, and the problem was that the axle of the switch
made a coving on the switch shaft.
i took a soldring iron and fill the coving with solder. it work's prefect.
you need a multimeter on ohm/buzzer position in order to test the switch
good luck !

AL;SDJFA FAL;SKFDJA!!! ok so i took my car to my dads mechanic and he replaced the micro switch with a new one. And the car still makes this stupid problem. Except now its worse (sometimes) because it will keep rising when it would only shoot up to 1500 before. I saw him do all the work so I know he changed it.
It revs when I start the car, whether its in the morning and in the garage or whether I parked outside my work in the sun. It just always does it (at varying rpms) whether im in park or neutral. Anybody know any other problems/solutions to this? because this is bugging me more and more every single freaking time.

alright i know this post is old, but just FYI we finally got the idle fixed. it was a spring in the throttle body that was not working properly so everytime the car was on, it wodldn't fully shut closed and thus explaining all the problems listed above. Im just glad we fixed it because that was THE most annoyingist problem ever.
