W124 1993 300E 4Matic Question

Any idea's if this can be done. I'm looking for a wiring diagram or pin out to the harness that connects to the control box of the 4Matic (all-wheel-drive) system on my 1993 300E 4Matic MB so I can put a toggle switch inside the car to enable/disable the system. I have a bad transaxle and hydraulic valve??? according to my local MB dealer and will cost to the tune of $4500 to repair. The 4Matic works fine when the roads are bad, but when you drive on clean dry roads, the front end skids, shutters, and skips. When you back up or corner sharply, the system seems to bind up. You turn off the ignition, the car lunges forward 3-6" This car is to beautiful and fast to trade in for the lousy $3,000 they're offering in real cash for the car. The body and interior is like brand new! The original sticker was $57,700 Any help or response would be GREATLY appreciated!

If someone is availabale to repair the car for less, parts and labor on the side, I could consider that. I'm in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and would travel to Chicago, IL or some other destination like that within reason.

Don't hack into the wiring harness, you're just asking for some kind of fire or other catastrophe. What you could do instead is take your car to an independent Mercedes shop, it will probably be a lot cheaper than the $4500 your dealer wants. If you wanted, you could also just remove the front driveshaft and make it a rear-wheel-drive only.

ROTFLMAO

You know Dave, I know the guy who originated the 'Shadetree Mechanic' ... an everyday neighborhood mechanic from Orlando ... worked all his life to keep his shop open and food on his table ... sumbitted the idea for the show via video tape to Buena Vista Productions (I think that's its name ... and I think it is or was owned by the 'Mouse'), they signed an exclusive contract with him, then a few months later, squeezed him out, hired the current hosts ... and never paid my friend a penny. Well that is, until the lawyers got thrown into the mix.

You know, I tried to get a-hold of my friend (from the story above) last week ... the ship to shore telephone on his yacht must have been broken.
