interior speaker ohms?

i have a 95 e320 sedan with the phone installed. last week i put in 2 infinity perfect 12's off a alpine mrd-1005 1000w rms amp. along with it, i replaced the stock becker headunit and installed a alpine 9847 deck with an ipod interface. here's my question. i've kept the stock interior speakers for now, but it seems that at a given volume, i.e. 15, the interiors are much "louder" than the sub. to the point where i have to turn the gain almost all the way up on the sub amp to match the loudness of the interiors. i've read somewhere before that the stock speakers are 1.5-2 ohm (correct me if im wrong). so if that's the case, with a deck running at 4 ohm, the relative loudness of the interiors vs the sub is greater. is there any way i can add resistors to the interiors? two 12s off a 1000w v12 shouldnt sound that weak. if not, what interiors do you guys suggest to upgrade the sound and match up the correct resistance? there's also the problem of the stock amps right? thanks

you probably want to port the trunk to get the bass into the cabin better.

You will also probably want to get rid of the factory amp and add an aftermarket amp to the system.

You can replace the speakers with pretty much anything.

I myself am a big fan of MB Quart, JBL and infinity.

Others will recommend other stuff too. its all based on opinion. My opionion is what I mentioned.

The problem with putting subs in a w124 is that the street gets more benefit from the bass than the passengers in the cabin. That's because the fuel tank is between the rear seats and the trunk. As has been suggested, port the subs into the interior (perhaps remove that first aid kit, make a hole in the parcel shelf if you are willing, and it will sound better).

If your speakers are Bose brand, then they are probably 1.5 to 2 ohm. If not, they're probably 6 ohm (like my stock Becker speakers in my 1991 230E).

If you have a factory amp, get rid of it.

Rattling

thanks for the advice guys. either way, it seems taking out the factory amp is a step that must be done. instead of having to rewire from the front, back, etc. i can simply splice the input and output wires from the factory amp together?

on a second note, when the bass is on there is a loud annoying rattle coming from the rear lower bumper. it isnt the bumper itself, but appears to be some type of sheet metal or heatshield beneath the rear bumper. can anyone confirm this before i proceed to take the bumper off and investigate what it may be?

Sometimes the chrome trim on the bumper rattles.

But you may have to remove the bumper and use some kind of sound deadening material everywhere you can fit it.

I think the problem you are having is with the factory amp and using the radio to send signal to the factory amp it's getting a louder signal and going up louder much quicker than your subs.

I don't see a reason why you couldn't splice the input and ouput wires att he factory amp instead of running all new wiring.
