i like/love forest road driving. i higher and more remote the better.
if i had a rear locker, i could really have some fun.

i've been to tellico and that is just insane. it's very cool, but to me over the top. rock crawling is ok, but i like to get somewhere.

when i was in colorado a few years ago, we took the durango/silverton narrow gauge train trip NORTH. the beauty can't be described.

from silverton we drove to animas forks, abandoned silver mine town.
that was some wheelin'.

i just wish i could have driven up cinnamon pass[about 14,000' elevation]. we were with older relatives.

if my explorer ever has 22" of front wheel travel, PLEASE RADIO THE PARK RANGER! I'VE GONE A HILL, SEND HELP

standard center caps will not fit those wheels. unfortunately they are smaller than standard.

All that car needs now chris...

Center caps... monotoned paint, and exhaust...

Body kits are optional, but the car looks great.

On the way home today it rubbed a lot when I hit big bumps. I'm taking off the wheels tomorrow and putting back the stock wheels in the front. For a couple days until I get all my parts and can go back to Sanders at TWS and get everything fixed.

Like Alon said, the standard center caps won't fit the wheels. MB standard is 3" while mine is 2.5" inches. Sucks ***** I know.

Magnaflow exhaust is in the works. Just need to find a good looking tip and I'm set to go.

Also, I talked to Sanders. He will be doing the monotoned paint job for me. Hopefully if I'm lucky I'll be able to get ahold of a AMG kit soon. If not, I'll either color match the impact strips or color match the panels and bumpers to the car.

RE: the rubbing. you need to put in the fender spacer kit, and definately need to roll the fenders. your car is lower than mine int he front, way lower. mine rubs only under I would say 85% compression in the front, though I am willing to bet that with the front getting rolled, that would take care of it. rear needs to be rolled a bit mroe, but it dosnt bug me much.

Get those fender spacers!

Yeah, Ben sent out that kit out for me today. Hopefully I'll get it next week around monday or tuesday. Is it easy to remove that lower panel? I'm still wondering how I would remove the bumper to put a spacer there.

Actually, it's not paint. lol

I would of painted but I thought to myself, I might get tired of the silver one day and be stuck with it. So I basically went to a graphics shop and ordered a 2 x 5 feet of silver decal vinyl! It was only 10 bucks, in my opinion, best 10 bucks ever spent. I think i might do black now.

chris' prob as i told him is he is OUT of suspension travel. he said his car in turns is on the bump stops. which means NO MORE travel. he said his springs are new and he has spring pads. putting fender spacers doesnt solve the REAL issue of being out of suspension travel.

the cars needs to go up and inch or two to regain some travel on hard corners.

Chris,

I have a piece of that setting in the car with a knife right now. Only problem I had was the tape still showed up any cracks in the clear coat over the zebrano. If you had cracks did you let them go or dremal them smooth?

I tried laminating carbon fibre on a test panel that I bought on ebay but found that unless I sanded ALL of the previous clear and wood off, everything would be too high. Also, I was not excited about digging around in the dash for the three pieces attached to the dash.

I am going to re-finish mine since now i got a hvlp paint gun and im going to use an automotive clear and paint all the wood high gloss black. I like what i did with the wood but im getting tired of it and it's time for a new look. I hope to be done with the car by x-mas! Also those screens were going to be installed but im just at that point a mercedes owner wants to go back to original.

That's just paint with an acrylic clear. I never seen any mb with high gloss black or i was thinking of getting a black burlwood laminate and clear coating it so it could look like real burlwood.

I think the gloss black would look great. I think I am going with a Pearl Black to match the outside of the car but if I start with graphic tape, I can experiment for a bit.

Good luck with the paint.

I didn't do much with the cracks in the center console. Mine weren't to extreme so I just layed the vinyl over it still regardless if the cracks shows or not. It's not that bad in my car, you only notice it if you look closely. What color are you using?

Since the car is Pearl Black I may go for a dark Charcoal to go with the grey interior. Other choices are silver (which I got the sample a month ago) and black). I also picked up a 300SEL this week which has the same problem (foggy zebrano) so I might just experiment. This is beginning to sound like fun.

My only problem is that with the sportline, I have the two "rolltop" console boxes between front seats and back seats which are going to require something. My thoughs on them are either aluminum to replace the wood which would tend to make me go to silver for the console or take them out and paint them black, praying they don't stick together.
