124 exhaust tips
For years frustrated 124 owners have spent exorbitant money to replace their o.e. muffler with a multi-hundred dollar one just because it has stainless tips. Ironically, Mercedes spent millions in engineering to keep noise out of the interior so a lowered exhaust note won't be heard or appreciated. There are now high quality stainless tips available from AutoBarn.com 13 Harbor Park Dr. Port Washington, N.Y. 11050. The Pilot tips are part #PILPM-553. They are 7" long and have a 2 1/2" inner diameter to fit over the 2"+ Mercedes muffler pipes. They cost $21.95 each and cost $6.50 for UPS. These rolled edge tips will mimic the look of an aftermarket muffler if the o.e. muffler is removed first and the long muffler tips cut in the right place so the tips face straight to the rear instead of lower left, downward.
