'86 300E - Trailer Wiring

I just bought a small pop-up trailer that I'll be picking up this weekend. I'm waiting for UPS to deliver the hitch from Da'Lan Hitch later this week. I want to do a clean job of wiring the trailer lights and don't like using the 3m Scotch Lok wire splices. Does anyone know if M-B makes a harness that plugs inline with the brake and running lights that I can buy? If not, is there a better wire splice system readily available out there?

Do I run the risk of messing up the 'bulb out' warning system by tapping into the lighting circuit with splices?

Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary
