1992 300TE: Value Question

I've checked KBB and Edmunds so I know what they indicate as the retail value.

I'm wondering if anyone has any recent imformation on what a 300TE wagon with about 125K miles in excellent condition would sell for?

what year?

pre '93 cars have an m-103 engine, a few less problems, less power.

'93 cars go to the m-104 engine, more power and a few more/different issues.

all w124's are prone to radiator failure at the neck.

do "search" on m-103 and also m-104, lots of info here and at mercedesshop

previous owners maintanence records are worthwhile reading if available.

This one is a 1992. I have another one also a 1992 300E with 126K miles. I very familiar with the things that come up on the 1992, the car I'm looking at has had them all fixed.

For reference, I just watched a nice 91 300TE 75K in Yonkers, NY bid up to $7700, but didn't meet reserve.

Was that the black one with 74,980 miles? It was a 4-matic and I had heard that system can be a problem. Also that vehicle with that mileage may not have had the following fail and had them replaced.
Radiator, head gasket, evaporator, belt tensioner, water pump. The vehicle I bought has already has this stuff done so hopefully it will be a little while before I have to do it again.

It was on ebay last night and it's mine now. It was Item number: 4596077040 and is in Naples, Florida. It's has all service and maintainence records from the dealer. The independent MB shop that checked the car out found a few other items that did not work and they are all being repaired at the seller's expense including a drivers side window regulator. I think overall the car is nice. It

There was another 300TE on ebay from Santa Barbara, Calif. with a buy it now of I think $9800. It had about the same mileage as the New York car and I had the same concerns about it being at the right mileage for things to start breaking.

Link to car.

Yes - that one. It noted that the a/c was worked on (evaporator?... I could only hope). I was almost seriously interested in it for a winter car because I'm planning on moving to the boonies where it's hilly and winter can be a challenge to drive in. Or for my sister who will be shortly in the market for an upscale station wagon for her toddlers.

This car bid up to $7850, when it had a Kelly blue book of only $7000. Can it be that KBB underrates these cars?

As far as being the right mileage for things to break, this doesn't bother me. The original owners know this, and this is where DIYers can cash in. Besides, it's not as though it gets better with further mileage.
