Mercedes benz 1991 300ce(RIP), now an 89 300ce
short rollout
hey guys, i gotta another question for you
in my 1991 300ce, i noticed that the roll out is really crappy. does anyone else have this problem? if i accelerate quickly to say 55 or so and get off the gas quickly, instead of just coasting along the car jerks and starts to slow. this does not happen when i stick the car in neutral. bu if im in neutral and stick it into drive, you really feel the car jerk and slow down...its a major difference. any suggestions of similar "problems"? thanks again

89 300TE, and 68 280sel
You know, I noticed this in my 300TE when I was on the hwy the other day, and i kinda got concerned, for a minute i thought the tranny was getting confused as to what it should be doing... these cars only have 4spds and no overdrive so I quit thinking about it. BTW, does anyone have the link for adjusting the bowden cable for the m103? Would this help? Sometimes my tranny also makes a click/clunk noise when it upshifts to from 3 to 2nd gear but otherwise it is like silk(for a benz auto with 120k)

i noticed that when i took the r-16 resistor out, the car rolled out a bit better. i still think the roll out is way too short. any else with this problem?

When you compare a Mercedes to, for example, a Chevy, you'll find differences.
This transmission does not freewheel when coasting down.
On my oldtime W123, the transmission would actually downshift to provide engine braking when coming to a stop.
